With the new buddy system coming out earlier today. Many may be wondering how this is going to work. This is a major update not only to Pokemon GO, but also the buddy system. It’s honestly good to see some more changes coming the the outdated system many probably thought was over with by Niantic. Thankfully, Niantic didn’t just stop with the system we got to know over the past few years.
The new buddy system allows for you to level up a friendship with which ever Pokemon you choose as your buddy. Though, choosing wisely is a needed thing to get the most out of this new system as some of the rewards you get from leveling your friendship with your Pokemon may come in handy later down the road.
Friendship Levels
- Good Buddy: You will get to see your buddy/ Pokemon walk around with you. If you aren’t to worried about what the other rewards are, than setting your favorite Pokemon and seeing it walk around would be a great way to go! Thankfully, you only need to be good buddies.
- Great Buddy: Remember the Pickup ability in the original games? Well, it turns out your buddy Pokemon once great buddies will go around and pick up items for you! Not only that but Being great buddies with the Pokemon you have chosen will help you in wild Pokemon encounters.
- Ultra Buddy: Your buddy will help you explore the world around you by letting you know about interesting places nearby! Your buddy will also bring you Souvenirs, which you can keep track of on the buddy profile page. It’s not to certain what this means, but maybe it will be very rewarding. After all, you must be ultra buddies with your Pokemon before you get souvenirs. It wouldn’t make much since for Niantic to give all the good rewards to the first to levels now would it?
- Best Buddy: Become Best Buddies, and your buddy will sport a Best Buddy Ribbon to show off to everyone just how close you two are! Pokémon that you’re Best Buddies with can get a CP boost in combat as long as they’re still assigned as your Buddy Pokémon.
How To level Your Buddy Pokemon
It isn’t certain just as yet today is the first day the new buddy system was released. However, it’s suspected that once completing these daily tasks, you will level up your friendship with your buddy Pokemon. If this isn’t how you can level up your friendship.
