The buddy adventure is a feature in Pokemon GO that allows you to level up your buddy Pokemon now. You can get some nice perks by leveling up your buddy Pokemon’s friendship level such as them following you around on the map. In order to do this you must be good buddies with your Pokemon and feed them berries to see them walking around with you during your journey.
How might you level these friendship levels? Not to worry, it is actually a pretty simple process just a little time consuming. Don’t worry if you miss out of some of these boosts to your Pokemon’s friendship level! You can do them daily or even get on to do some quick ones if you can’t finish all these tasks towards leveling your Pokemon.
Buddy Tasks
You get daily tasks towards leveling up your buddies friendship level. They are the same tasks each day (for now) and you get a heart for each task you complete. After completing all tasks for the day you won’t be able to collect any more hearts until the next day where these tasks will reset.
These tasks include.
Walk together – walking 2km gains you 1 heart for a total of 3 hearts. You will need to walk 6km in order to complete this task fully.
Feed them berries – Feed your buddy Pokemon berries to get 3 hearts. They take 3 berries per heart unless you use the golden raspberries which they only take 2 per heart.
Play together – You must tap play in the new buddy feature and use ar mode to tap on your Pokemon and pet them until you see them spin. This task gives 1 heart
Battle together – Your buddy needs to be a team member for this one but you can use them to fight with you. This will reward you with 1 heart.
Take a snapshot – Take a snapshot of your buddy (preferably while in play mode to kill two birds with one stone) this rewards 1 heart.
Visit a new place – Visiting a new stop or gym and spinning will reward you with 1 heart (I visited a stop I have visited hundreds of times before and it gave me the heart so I think it’s mostly new to the Pokemon you have set as your buddy?)
How To Level Your Buddy
This system of leveling is a bit different than the other leveling systems we have in Pokemon GO At the Moment. For Trainer levels. You must collect so much experience gained throughout your journey to level up. Becoming friends with other trainers, you must participate in activities with them in order to level up with them. For buddy Pokemon, you get to play with them and basically take them around with you, where ever you go. You also collect hearts for them as their form of experience. Here is what you need for each level. You gain hearts through completing tasks from list above.

How Long Will Best Buddy Take
If you want to level more than one buddy Pokemon, don’t be shy to! Be cautious though as you can only change your buddy Pokemon 20 times per day. Pick them Pokemon you want to level wisely as it will take a while to get 300 hearts to become best buddies with your Pokemon.
There are a total of 10 hearts that can be gained per day. Meaning it will take:
1 day for good buddy
7 days for great buddy
15 days for ultra buddy
30 days for best buddy
